This includes plastic bottles, plastic grocery bags and plastic packaging. These plastics are only used once before they are discarded. And where do they go? They pollute nature.

how we turn plastic bottles into travel gear
At Travel Dude, we collect and bundle used plastic bottles, which are then shredded into flakes. After thorough washing and drying, these flakes are melted and spun into thin yarn fibers. We weave these fibers into a robust fabric material, creating our sustainable travel gear. By repurposing plastic bottles, we contribute to the circular economy and offer eco-friendly products that protect the environment.

china contributes the highest share of mismanaged plastic
China contributes the highest share of mismanaged plastic with around 28% of the global total – this is the plastic that ends up in rivers and oceans.
A major part of plastic waste gets into our oceans from the mainland. Worldwide there are 10 big rivers that are responsible for about 80 % of the plastic in our oceans. 8 of these rivers are located in Asia and 4 alone are in China.

With multiple centuries of experience making them the leading textile manufacturer, we rely on China’s expertise to produce the innovative travel gear we design in Germany.

choosing cargo vs. air
To reduce our environmental impact, we transport products from the manufacturer to our warehouse by cargo shipping instead of air. While cargo shipping has its own environmental concerns, it’s currently our best and most sustainable choice. This decision significantly lowers our carbon footprint and supports our mission to make travel greener. We’re dedicated to finding even more sustainable shipping solutions as part of our ongoing commitment to eco-friendly practices.
